I purchased a discount concrete bird bath. It has some chips in the stem and on the edges of the bowl. Should I paint a protective coating in these areas or just leave it as is? What should I use if it does need protection? I would like something with a clear coating if needed.

You can purchase a small bag of Quik-crete (or sometimes a small tube of the product) to fill in the chips and holes. Then use a concrete sealer or waterproofer to maintain the integrity of your new bird bath. Annual sealing will keep the bird bath in tip-top shape.

Enjoy!
