| Hi.... My mughos are near the street and are starting to block my view of traffic. I need to cut them back about 2 feet. They have candles on them now. | If you shear your pines back they may never recover. The best way to keep evergreens under control is to break off the candles or half of the candle's length every spring. If you cut back to bare wood (wood that's 3-4 years old), evergreens rarely produce new needles and you'll end up with a lopsided tree. If you do some selective pruning you may be able to thin the branches out so that you still have some green but you also reduce the width and your line of sight. Best wishes with your trees. |
