| We have a very small back yard at the deepest 20' deep, however we experience extreme heat penetrating our back patios and windows in the afternoon and would like to plant one or two trees to shade our patios and lanai. I've debated about trying the following a Globe Navajo Willow and a Dalbergia. However we are on the west central coastal area of Florida, and I'm very concerned about the drought conditions hear. I wouldn't want the trees to look ragged rather than healthy and succulent. And I wouldn't want the trees growing so high that they tower over the house and not provide the shade I'm hoping to accomplish. Your suggestions? And how long does it take these trees to reach maturity? |
| Sonja, I think the Dalbergia is too cold tender for your area according to my database records. Globe Navajo Willow grows pretty large and would overwhelm that area. I suggest you contact your County Extension Office for advice as to the best trees for your area and space available.
