The Q&A Archives: Trees

Question: What type of shade trees grow best in West Texas?

Answer: Jamie,

Big trees are hard to come by for west Texas conditions. Some of your best bets for a larger tree are:
Bur Oak
Chinkpin Oak
Cedar Elm

For a medium sized tree try:
Mexican White Oak (Monterrey Oak)
Lacebark Elm
Chinese Pistache
