Answer: Finding mushrooms growing in potting soil really isn't all that unusual. The mushrooms are growing on decaying organic matter (the peatmoss or shredded bark) in the potting soil. You can easily remove them by either pulling them out or carefully digging them out with a spoon (so as not to hurt the roots of your plants). They're not edible so be sure to toss them in the trash.
