The Q&A Archives: Mulching roses.

Question: How close to my rose bushes can I put bark or mulch? Can I go right up to the plant or should I stay several inches away?

Answer: You'd be wise in keeping the mulch a few inches away from the stems of the plants. Mulch material can hold too much moisture against the bark of the main stems of shrubs and cause them to rot so it's always a good idea to keep the mulch a few inches away from shrubs and trees.

Best wishes with your garden!
