Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis is the tropical or Chinese form of hibiscus. It has glossy leaves and fantastic flowers. It is a tender plant and while it can grow outdoors on the patio or deck, it cannot live through your winters and therefore should be taken indoors in the fall. If you'd rather not grow it as a houseplant during the winter months, consider it an annual rather than a perennial.

Best wishes with your new plant.
