Hello Last year I planted a rose plant in my backyard. It grew well. I did not cover that plant in winter. But still it grew. But when new leaves are growing and then it gets dried.I want to know does that need more water or is it because I m giving too much water? Thanks |
Sounds like a watering issue to me. Roses prefer moist soil but it shouldn't be wet all the time, either. If the soil is too soggy the roots can suffocate. So, here's one way to water your rose: make a watering well or watering basin beneath the bush by mounding up a few inches of soil in a circle around the plant, about 12" away from the trunk or main stem. Fill the basin with water, allow to drain, then fill it a second time. Watering in this way will concentrate the water directly over the root system and allow it to trickle down and wet the entire root mass. Once a week should do it - twice a week if the weather is really hot. Best wishes with your roses. |
