I have planted several different (colors of) coleus plants in my garden which gets direct sunlight about 50% of the day, and the rest in pots. Will they both do well? I put some in pots hoping that when cold weather comes, I can bring them inside.

Coleus prefers to grow in shade or with just a few hours of morning sun. Afternoon sunshine will burn the leaves. As long as you pinch out the stem tips, your coleus will remain compact and attractive. Towards the end of the summer you can take your potted plants indoors or you can root tip cuttings and take them inside for the winter months.

Enjoy!
