I am having a ver poor propagation of Vinca Annuals (not the Vinca Major). I am using a propagator, wet seed starting mix, with heat in the 70 degree range. I am only getting a bout 30% germination, and then in about 15-20 days. What can I do to speed germination and increase the percentage. |
Vinca seeds take 15-30 days to germinate at 70F -75F degrees. They won't germinate in light, so make sure the seeds are covered. If you have heating cables or a seed starting heat pad, place the tray of seeds on the heat source, but don't supply any additional light until the seeds have germinated. Once they've sprouted, turn off the heat source and place the seedlings under a source of artificial light. Some seeds take longer to germinate than others, so just exercise some patience. They'll come up eventually! |
