Calathea is a genus of plants belonging to the family Marantaceae. There are about twenty five species in the genus. Native to the tropical Americas, many of the species are popular as house plants, some going under the name of prayer plants or zebra plants.

You can take your prayer plant outdoors in the spring and summer months. It likes medium to bright light but no direct sunshine.
