The Q&A Archives: cutting roes bushes

Question: I have a variety of roses called

Answer: Well, it's sad that your roses got an unseasonal haircut but I think they'll be okay. I suspect they will recover and bloom again before the summer's over. Using Bayer Advanced All in One should take care of any pests - it just takes a little while for the product to work. As for moths, I don't think they're eating the leaves. Moths (and butterflies for that matter) do not feed on plants. They do not have the mouthparts for chewing - they drink nectar but they do not eat leaves. Their larvae do feed on leaves so if the moths are laying eggs, you may have a problem with little caterpillars later in the season. Caterpillars can be controlled with Bt (such as Dipel).

Best wishes with your roses!
