The Q&A Archives: about melons both water and cantelope

Question: on this site i saw that one of the pictures had the melon on can is that something i need to do when melons come in or do suggest something to to prevent bruising and why us cans thank you

Answer: Yes, it's true. As the fruit begins to ripen some gardeners place it on the top of a turned-over coffee can, so it is off the ground (high and dry), and the underside of the fruit does not begin to rot if the soil get overly moist. It isn't necessary but some gardeners do that, especially in areas with high rainfall in the summer months.

Best wishes with your melons!
