I'm trying to find seeds for dwarf corn, zucchini and squash--like the corn you find in Chinese food. |
These vegetables are all regular types which are harvested when they are small. That tiny corn is just regular corn (sweet or others), that is harvested early. Some varieties are better than others at producing multiple ears, so you get more baby corns per stalk. These include some of the older, open-pollinated varieties like Burpee's 'Early Sunglow'. Harvest before the corn plant is pollinated, 2 to 4 days after the first silks appear. Plant the seeds close together, only 2 to 3 inches apart, to encourage side shoot growth. You may get up to 10 to 12 tiny ears per plant. For the others try one of the many varieties Burpee offers such as 'Richgreen' for zucchini, and 'Saffron Prolific' for squash. Harvest whenever they reach the size you want! To obtain a catalog call 1-800-888-1447. |
