Some wild strawberries do spread by seed, so you can apply a preemergent weed killer such as WeedzSTOP, which is made from corn gluten. This organic weed control is nontoxic to people and pets and grass. You may need to resort to pulling some weeds by hand after a rain has softened the soil. Pull as many weeds as you can before they flower, then apply the herbicide. You may be able to find WeedzSTOP at a local nursery, or you can order it from Gardener's Supply in Burlington, VT, (800) 863-1700. Goodluck.
