I live in zone 9, central Florida. This year I have become over run by dandilions. I have tried fertilizers, weed & feeds, lime, and nothing seems to do the job. I bag my clippings to help stop reproducing. I love to entertain in the back yard and this problem takes away from the beauty. Thank you for your help.

Dick,

I suggest you purchase a weed killer for broadleaved weeds and make individual treatments to the dandelions. This will be more important in the fall or very early spring when the plants are still small. Products containing a mixture of 2,4-D, and Dicamba should work but there are other such combinations at you local Home Depot store. Just make sure it is for broadleaf weeds, not grassy weeds and that it is for killing existing weeds, not preventing weeds.

In the meantime work on proper mowing, watering and fertilizing to increase the health and density of your lawn. This helps choke out and prevent many weed problems.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
