I read that cabbabe leaves need to be tied shut to produce a head. What is the best method to tie the leaves closed and how do you know when the head is ready for harvest? |
Cabbage will mature on its own without tying up the outer leaves, however some gardeners do tie them to help prevent splitting and to keep cabbage worms from finding the head. They'll still munch on the outer leaves, but they probably won't be able to get to the head itself. |
