I have a cactus with lots of stems coming from it. several of them were broken off by a stray cat. How do I go about restarting these ? Do I put them straight in soil, or do I have to root them?

Cactus will usually root without any special treatment. Allow the end to callous over for a day, then set it in soil. Water only when you normally water your other cacti. It should root within a month.

Best wishes with your cactus garden!
