The Q&A Archives: iris

Question: my iris bloomed last year since then I have moved them .Now only half of them bloomed this year?

Answer: Iris can fail to bloom if they are overcrowded or if they are planted too deeply. Wait until the usual dig and divide time (mid-August or early September) and dig those that did not bloom. Reset them so they are just barely beneath the soil surface. I think you'll find a great improvement in their performance next year.
