It's normal for the very heavy blossoms of hydrangeas to weigh the branches down, especially if the flowers get wet. You can make an effort to keep water off the flowers to help the stems remain upright, but most plants droop when they are heavy with opened flowers. Plants can be kept pink by liming the soil or applying superphosphate. This is done in the fall because it takes several months for the lime or superphosphate to do its magic.

Best wishes with your hydrangea!
