The Q&A Archives: repotting to soon

Question: I just bought a Marginata Dracaena-the roots weren't taking over the pot yet-but they were but 3/4 of the pot-there were 4 of them in the pot when I bought it-and I repotted it a pot about 4-5 times bigger then the one it came in-was that ok or to soon.

Answer: Repotting should be just fine. You don't know how long the plant was growing in the nursery pot - probably a year or so. Since the roots were almost filling the orgininal pot you did your plant a favor by providing more root growth room and fresh potting soil. Enjoy your new plant!
