We have a lot of untreated telephone poles and would like to build an awning approximately 13x13. Do you know the easiest way to do this?

Telephone poles are very dense wood so if you need to cut them, it might be a real challenge! You can probably build it like you would a pole barn or building, measuring the finished height plus 7-8" because you'll want to sink that much into a hole and pour cement around the pole to help anchor it into the ground. You'll also need to notch an area near the top of the pole to accept 2X4's or whatever you're going to use to tie all the poles together. I'll bet you can find a diagram of a pole building on the internet, complete with diagrams to walk you through the project. Hope so!
