Snap off the entire flower plus the stem, removing it all the way down to the branch or stem where it is emerging. This includes the socket and the stem that attaches it to the rest of the plant. If you don't want to snap it off, cut it off with pruners. Prune your azalea as soon as it has finished flowering so it can produce new flower and leaf buds during the summer months. Azaleas do best with a special "acidified" food formulated for Rhododendrons and Azaleas.

Best wishes with your azaleas!
