Gardenia jasminoides Veitchii is a perennial shrub in frost free areas. I'd keep it in a container and enjoy it in a protected spot outdoors during the summer months and indoors the rest of the year. Pinch off the faded flowers to encourage new flowers, give it bright light but not direct sunshine and keep the soil moist. If it is too dry, the leaves will turn yellow and drop. Enjoy the wonderful fragrance!
