The Q&A Archives: Peas

Question: Is the middle of April to earily to plant peas in Connecticut?

Answer: Generally, you wait until after the hard spring frosts, which in your area is the end of April...but I know folks who plant them a lot earlier. Have you got enough seed to try a few in mid-April without going for broke? If so, try it. Maybe you'lllearn something new...and be the first on the block with mature peas! (If you're planting a few varieties, go with the snow peas first--they are the most cold-tolerant.)
