Answer: Karen,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you. First of all I am sorry to hear about your loss. It is never easy to lose a loved one, I know. Gardening is a great escape and therapy for all type of life's problems so I wish you well in your gardening efforts. Keep growing and learning as gardening is a truly lifelong learning experience.

I think you should look through the following web sites for ideas for flowers you might like to include in your garden.

You might also like to visit other local gardens for ideas to take back and try in your yard. Seeing gardens is a good way to figure out what you like.

Before replanting spread 2 inches of compost into the soil and mix it in with a spade or rototiller. You may need to hire this done but it helps build the soil and plants will perform better. Fall is a good time for planting perennials, roses and flowering shrubs. Annual flowers can be planted most any time depending on the type of annual you choose.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
