The Q&A Archives: Growing roses in south Florida

Question: I live in south Florida. Is it possible to grow roses in containers here?

Answer: Louis,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.

You can grow roses in containers but the container needs to be very large such as a half whiskey barrel and located in an area with morning sun and some late day shade. You will need to also water it regularly, perhaps twice a day to maintain good soil moisture.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
