The Q&A Archives: moving plants

Question: Am I able to dig up and move butterfly and bleeding heart bushes? Also would like to move yucca plants.

Answer: You can move your plants without problem, especially if you do it in early spring or late fall. This is when the plants are not grow as actively and they won't suffer as much transplant shock. I'd wait until the weather is cooler and rainfall abundant to help your plants re-establish their root systems in the cooler months of the year.

Best wishes with your move!
