| You can prune at any time of the year. To prune your plumeria, simply make a cut diagonally (at an angle of about 45 degrees), just above a leaf scar. New branches will develop right under the cut at the leaf scars and lead to new inflorescenses (flower stalks). Prune the branch in a way (angle) that you want it to branch out. If your plumeria is very overgrown, you may want to reduce its size over a period of 2-3 years rather than cut it down all at once. Reduce its size now, then wait a few months and prune it back again. Eventually you'll get it back down in size without sacrificing too many blooms. Enjoy! |
