Poison Ivy, pesky vines, weeds, and grubs are taking over!! I have a well and would like to know if it is safe to use herbicides and non-organic fertilizers and if so, are there special precautions I should follow. I use organic fertilizer and crabgrass preventative, but I cannot find organic solutions for killing weeds and vines. I would also appreciate your opinion on milky spore for grubs. Thanks.

I think you're wise in selecting only organic solutions to your gardening challenges, especially because of your water source. There are two products you can try on your weedy plants and vines. One is vinegar based and the other is corn gluten based. Both are considered natural and neither should foul the ground water or travel into your well. Nature's Guide 10 per cent vinegar solution is sold as a weed killer: WOW! is a corn gluten based herbicide. Either should be available in local garden centers and nurseries or you can purchase online at Garden's Alive! (www.gardensalive.com). Best wishes with your landscape!
