The Q&A Archives: Black baptisia

Question: My baptisia's leaves turned black and fell off after it bloomed. Now it has healthy growth at the base. Is this normalor is it a fungus? Should I remove the dead stems?

Answer: What you describe sounds abnormal but it appears that your plant has overcome whatever stressed it enough to turn the leaves black. Remove any affected leaves so the problem doesn't spread. Let's hope your plant continues to regain its health!
