Why doesn't my trumpet vine, three years old, grow like the catalogs promise? It has growth, but only a couple of feet before frost. What can I do to make it speed up?

Trumpet Vine (Campsis radicans) generally is quite a vigorous grower, often growing to 30 feet! It does prefer rich soil and full sun, so if either of these is lacking, that could be the problem. Perhaps you should do a soil test to be sure it is growing in the conditions it needs.

Try going to your Univ. Of Maine Extension Service web page to find out if they can do that for you, and what the procedure is for having a soil test done. Here is the web site address: umext.maine.edu/
