| I have 3 avacado seeds that I would like to plant and grow. I have many questions.. Can I grow them in a pot? If so, for how long? Can they stay indoors or do they require full sun? How long does it take before they begin producing? I have a black thumb so any help you can give me would be great! Thank you! |
| You can grow avocado seeds and they will become nice houseplants but they probably won't produce fruit unless you plant them directly outdoors. I just poke three toothpicks into each seed and suspend them in a glass of water so only half is in the water and the other half is above the water. Put the pointy side up. In a month or so the seed will crack open and a root will go down into the water. You can allow it to grow in the water until the top is 10-12" tall. At that time plant them in potting soil (again burying only half the seed. In a few weeks pinch out the top two leaves to encouraging branching out. Every time you pinch out the very tip of the branch it will develop two new branches. This will turn into a really nice houseplant. When the roots start escaping from the drainage holes in the pot it is time to move it into a larger pot. Hope this answers all your questions~ |
