I have desert landscaping in Phoenix, and am new to having to control the weeks. I want to put down a pre-emergent, but would like to know, is there any better time to put this down? It is summer, with weeds popping up all the time, will it work now?

Pre-emergent herbicides will stop weed seeds from germinating so you can apply it at any time. You'll first want to remove the existing weeds (it won't kill the weed crop you have but will prevent new weeds from sprouting). There are several on the market - Preen is one brand name. Apply in amounts as recommended on the label.

Best wishes with your landscape.
