I can almost smell the fragrance now! Sweet peas can be planted about two weeks before your last frost date, which means you can put them in the ground in mid-April. If you soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours before planting, the seeds will germinate faster. Set up your trellis for the peas to climb on before you plant. Sweet peas send out tendrils that need narrow horizontal wires or wood strips for support so you may need to add some horizontal string or wire to your trellis if it consists of mostly vertical strips.

Plant the seeds about 1/4" deep and lightly firm the soil on top. Water well and keep the soil moist. When the seedlings emerge, you can mulch the soil to keep it cool and moist.
