I just planted a Red Haven Semi-Dwarf Peach tree and noticed what looks like open wounds on the tree. Should I put something over the wounds to keep bugs out, or spray it?

Wound dressings are not recommended for trees - studies show they actually inhibit the natural healing process. Just leave the injuries alone and they should heal without any help. The tree will compartmentalize the injured tissues (on the inside of the tree - to block the damage from spreading beyond the already damaged tissues). In time, bark will grow over the wounds.
