I was given a miniature rose bush as a present. It is called Minibrite Rose Ice. What is the best way to care for this? I live in an apartment where I have a deck to put out plants. |
Miniature roses are great container plants. I would repot your rose bush into a container one size larger than the one it's presently in. Use commercial potting soil and a clay or plastic pot with good drainage holes in the bottom. Sprinkle in the soil some time release fertilizer such as Osmocote. This fertilizer slowly releases as you water so you avoid having to keep remembering the fertilizer. Keep it moist, but not wet and in at least 5-6 hours of sun a day on your deck this summer. Wait until there is no danger of frost in your area (late April) before leaving it overnight. Your rose will grow in less direct light, but it won't flower as well. Bring the plant indoor in fall and place it under grow lights to keep it flowering. |
