ornamental cherry tree - Knowledgebase Question

I received an Ornamental Cherry tree from someone. He had it since this spring and never planted it. I planted according to directions. The soil is red clay but it looks ok I plantd it in a sunny area about a week ago,when should I prune it? thank you

Since you've only recently planted your tree, give it until next spring to become established in your landscape. Then, after it finishes flowering, prune it back.
