I just received 2 daylilies: Margaret Weimerand Arkansas Post. Your insert indicates "plant crowns flush with soil surface". Which part is the crown--the green bud that's beginning to appear or the tendrils? By flush with the surface which, if any section should be exposed? A diagram would be helpful. |
Sorry, I can't do a diagram. The crown of the Daylily (Hemerocallis) is what the bud and the tendrils are attached to! The center of the whole works. The buds should almost break the surface of the soil depending on how long they are. If they're 1/4 inch, you probably shouldn't see them. If they're an inch long, let them stick up out of the soil just a bit. Does that help? |
