Does home Depo receive my trees so that I can pick up and not pay delivery something like Walmart does? Pick up local. I want two apple trees. Are Cortland and Fuji a good mate? I live in Franklinton NC. Also can I plant one peach and one pear with that or is two needed?

I think you'll need to talk to the garden manager at your local Home Depot to see what their policy is about special orders.

The best apple varieties for your growing region include:

Gala (Golden Delicious is best pollinator); Empire (pollinators are Golden or Red Delicious and Gala); Jonagold (pollinators are Gala and Empire); Golden Delicious ( use Red Delicious, Gala, or Empire as pollinators); Red Delicious (Golden Delicious, Gala); Stayman (pollinators are Gala, Golden or Red Delicious); Rome (pollinators are Fuji, Braeburn); Braeburn (use Rome or Fuji as pollinators); Fuji (use Rome or Braeburn as pollinators).

Some pears are self-fruitful. If you want only one pear tree, choose Anjou or Bartlett.

Peaches are self-fruitful so you only need one tree, but if you have two different types, you will get a heavier crop on both trees.

Best wishes with your garden!
