My name is Mark and I am fairly new to Tucson coming from San Francisco. Very different climate and flora survival.

Is there a website or book that you can suggest to help me with my small garden here in Tucson? Some plants and flowers live, others are destroyed by the heat, monsoon and sometimes bitter cold. I'm still learning.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

You're certainly right - gardening in Tucson is unlike San Francisco - or most any other place that's not considered the desert southwest! Gardening in Tucson can be challenging - growing seasons are all mixed up! You can grow nearly every vegetable and herb but their growing seasons are anytime except June-Aug. If you truly want some in depth guidance, here's a web address for the Master Gardener Study Manual from Arizona State University. It covers the basics and the specifics of gardening in the southwest:

Hope this helps!
