I would like to kill my lawn and start over. Where do I start, and what grass seed is good for my area? I would like to do this in the fall. Is this a good time? |
Fall is an excellent time to renovate a lawn. Kentucky bluegrass, tall fescues and perennial ryegrass are all warm season turfgrass varieties that will do well in your region. If your lawn is in really bad shape you might want to rototill it, rake out the debris, spread some organic matter over the top, rototill again, then level the area and sow your grass seeds. If the lawn is salvagable, you can power rake it to remove thatch, rake out the thatch, then overseed the remaining lawn. Either way, fall and spring are the best times to renovate a lawn. Best wishes with your lawn! |
