| Marigolds are annuals plants so they will die at the end of the summer. You can save the seeds you have collected and plant them next spring. To collect more seeds, allow the petals to fall from the flowers and watch for a seedhead to form. When it is tannish in color pull it off the plant and open it up. Mature marigold seeds will be narrow and long with a black portion attached to a tan tail. Keep the seeds in a paper envelope and store in a cool, dark place over the winter months. When the weather warms in the sprink, sprinkle the seeds on top of the soil and cover with a thin layer of peatmoss or potting soil to keep them from blowing away. Water them often enough to keep them moist and they will sprout within a week. Enjoy! |
