| You can plant trees and shrubs at almost any time of the year. I'd avoid frozen soils and the heat of summer, but other than that, you should be able to successfully plant a landscape tree most any time. The benefits of planting in either spring or fall is that's when temperatures are cool and rainfall abundant, both of which will help the tree's roots establish quickly and lessen transplant shock.
