The Q&A Archives: Lilac Bushes

Question: Could you please advise as to when the best time to transplant a lilac bush in my area? Thanks,

Answer: If you don't need to prune it to move it, you can dig and transplant it in fall. Since pruning encourages new growth that won't have a chance to harden off prior to cold weather, if you need to prune it for ease in moving, I'd wait until early spring. Best wishes with the move!
