| Several roots on my jacaranda tree have surfaced. They have damaged the brick tree ring extensively. Could I safely chop off the roots without killing the tree? I could then repair the brickwork. It is a beautiful tree, 10 yrs. old. |
| Jacarandas sometimes grow a single trunk, other times multiple trunks. Any exposed roots can be removed without harming the plant, but in doing so you may encourage the growth of additional stems. Is it possible to extend the size of the tree ring to accommodate the growing root system? That way your plant will continue to perform as it has in the past rather than become a large shrub with multiple trunks. Jacarandas can grow 25-40 feet high and 15-30 feet wide. You can prune to keep it smaller. |
