The Q&A Archives: scheffalera problem

Question: I purchased a Money Tree, so called, it's a braided scheffalera. Now leaves, indiviual and groups are turning brown, It was fine for a year same spot same care. What could be the problem?

Answer: Kay,

It may be due to a soil moisture problem, typically too wet for too long which kills roots. It may also be due to air drafts (hot or cold) or to excessive fertilizer salt buildup in the soil. If you feel it is due to fertilizer salts you can drench a lot of water through the pot to dissolve and rinse out the excess salts and then allow the soil to dry out quite a bit before watering again.
