Dear Gardener, Is autumn a good time to fertilize my trees? I have Japanese Maples, a Japanese Weeping Mulberry, and peach trees. All my trees are young trees, planted in the last three years. Thanks, carl |
Fertilizer encourages new growth, and since the weather will cool soon and your plants will rest for the winter, autumn is not a good time to feed. Early spring, just when new growth appears is the best time to feed your plants. They'll need the nutrients during their growth spurt and if you use a slow-release formulation, will use them up during the summer season. You can repeat each spring. Enjoy your garden! |
