The Q&A Archives: Moving Scheffelera

Question: I had a five-foot Scheffelera in my living room. I decided to plant it out by my back door patio. It now is past the roof and 15-20 feet tall! Has a beautiful trunk and is expanding. I fear this will ruin my foundation and want to move it. Is it transplantable? It's beautiful and don't want to kill it.

Answer: Betty,
Yes, you can dig and move it. Try to get as much of the roots as is practical. Water it in well in its new location and provide a little shade cloth over the plant if you can for a few weeks post planting to help it with the adjustment.
