My palo verdes limb was torn by wind and split at the tree should I remove the other part of the limb that is connected to the tree? The base of this limb has about a 4 foot rip into the limb from the limb that is hanging from the tree. Also is it a good time to do a major trim on my palo verde?

I would remove the split limb, all the way back to the trunk if necessary, or at least to solid wood further back on the limb. The important thing is to remove any splintered wood and to make a clean cut. Now is a great time to thin the branches out on your palo verde and shorten some of them, too.

Let's hope the monsoons are over!
